Buy Nothing Day Project

BUY NOTHING DAY
participate by not participating

On the last Friday in November,  International Buy Nothing Day  is celebrated around the world. On that day we are asked to be a Consumer Hero, not a Consumer Zero and stand up against the pressure to BUY! BUY! BUY!

YOUR PROJECT: Choose a poster to support the Buy Nothing Day.

1. Devise a survey.
In order to forecast the reactions of people of your age, you will devise a survey that you will then submit to the class to fill in. The idea is to know more about what you as young consumers think on a number of issues.
The survey will remain anonymous: privacy will be respected. The issues are:
-the influence of advertising on spending habits,
-the impact of TV and the Internet,
-the importance of the fashion industry,
-leisure activities,
-concern for the environment.

2. Analyze the survey.
After collecting all the answers you will try to infer the overall position of the class.
3. (Devise or) Choose a poster [click here].
With these conclusions you will choose the poster that you think is the most appropriate for the class to urge people of your age to resist the temptation of buying on that day. You will have to justify your choices.
