What's Eating Gilbert Grape – Movie Sequence  2 -- Time: 7:00 – 17:00

Summary: Gilbert goes to work in the grocery store. He makes a delivery to Mrs. Carver, and it's obvious they're having an affair. Mr. Carver returns, completely oblivious, and Gilbert leaves. Arnie climbs the water tower, and Gilbert talks him down. The family discuss plans for Arnie's 18th birthday.

9.    What is everyone going to do for the event? What about Arnie and Gilbert?
10.  In pairs, write  about Arnie for 10 minutes. Say what he can / can't do using modals (cf. textbook p. 262)  Show your partner your paper. Then correct each other's work.
